The Trophy House
The Trophy House and Clark Sporting
Goods are two businesses that have provided products and services to
the Fayetteville/Cumberland County area for over 100 years. In
January, 2007, they merged to become a premier location for sporting
goods and awards. Both businesses began and continue to operate as
family owned, community based companies. The Trophy House was
started in 1969 by Jimmy Keefe’s father, LTC (Ret) John V. Keefe and
“Cap” Clark started Clark Sporting Goods in 1938 after a career in
Major League Baseball. Jack Clark carried on the family tradition
for many years and still works each day in the business. Jimmy
Keefe, president of the company stated, “This was a merger that just
made sense. We were both good companies separately, but, together,
this is a Great Company.”
The Trophy House & Clark Sporting Goods
specializes in all types of Sporting Goods equipment, screen printing,
embroidery, Team Uniforms, High School Letter Jackets, Banners,
specialty advertising products and of course, Trophies, plaques and
awards for every occasion. Jamie Sykes, President of Clark Sporting
Goods says, “It is our goal to take care of the customer before the
season starts with uniforms, equipment, banners and promotional items
and then, after the season is over with trophies and awards.” When the
company merged in 2007, we consolidated our showroom to The Trophy
House Building at 3006 Bragg Blvd. Keefe stated, “Since we do almost
all of our production in-house, this gave us the opportunity to
provide faster turn around and increased customer service from a
consolidated location.”
Because of the increase in business over the past 18 months, we have
expanded into the Hope Mills area. In September 2008, we opened our
newest store at 5613 Rockfish Road.
Our General Manager, Laura Adams will be happy to provide any
assistance to our customers regarding, team uniforms, screen printing,
embroidery, High School Letter Jackets or trophies and awards. The
Trophy House & Clark Sporting Goods will continue our commitment of
providing quality services at good prices with a fast turn around
time.

Fayetteville Swamp Dogs
The
Fayetteville SwampDogs are a member of the Coastal Plain League, the
largest summer collegiate baseball league in the nation. With 14
teams spread amongst three divisions, the league has grown
exponentially in recent years.
The
SwampDogs have achieved tremendous success over the last three
seasons, since Darrell Handelsman and Lew Handelsman took over in
2005. The father-son duo has raised the bar both on the field and in
the community.
Darrell Handelsman, who doubles as the Head Coach and the Director of
Operations, has amassed 114 wins in three seasons with Fayetteville.
He is all-time wins leader in Coastal Plain League history. In 2007,
he guided the SwampDogs to a 42-14 record in the regular season. The
42 wins are the most in a single season in the 11 year history of the
CPL.
Off
the field, the SwampDogs have integrated themselves into the
Fayetteville community in only a short amount of time. Fun-Go, the
team’s mascot, has made appearances at business openings, county
parades, local events, blood drives, schools, hospitals and more.
In
2007, the SwampDogs spent the entire season collecting money for
Special Olympics. At seasons end, the SwampDogs organization matched
the total fan donation. We raised over 3,000 dollars, which will be
donated to Cumberland County Special Olympics. In addition, the
SwampDogs teamed up with the Blood and Cancer Clinic to raise money
for the Karen Chandler Trust Fund. On “StriKing Out Cancer Night” at
J.P. Riddle Stadium, over $4,500 were raised for cancer patients.
The
2008 season will begin on May 29. Until then, the SwampDogs front
office staff plans to spend time in the community, while preparing for
another great year.
We encourage you to visit us on online at
www.goswampdogs.com. If you have any
questions about the Fayetteville SwampDogs, please call our business
office at 910-426-5900.
