We call our children's ministry Sonshine not only for the bright and happy smiles that they wear, (and share), but also for the fact that they are also little lights in a dark world. Our children are precious, and are in fact, like our youth ministry students, the future of Christ's church.

We strive to teach servanthood, a love for Jesus, trust in God and fundamental lessons from the Holy Bible to allow our children to grow in Christ.

Think that the little ones are too young to be effective in God's Kindom? Let's review:

* Josiah was 8 years old when he became the king of Judah who would bring the Jews back into fellowship and obedience with God. - 2 Kings 22:1

* Samuel was 6 years old when God called him as a prophet to tell of the coming judgement of Eli the preist and his two evil sons, who had defiled the temple and the sacrifices of God's people. - 1 Samuel 3:4

And let's not forget what Jesus Himself had to say about the children:

“Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”

Even the young ones in our church are not off the hook when it comes to servanthood - no matter how young (or how old - Moses was in his 80's when he lead the people of Israel out of Egypt!). We ask everyone to help and provide them ample opportunitiy to do so if they have it on their hearts. The upper elementary school students take leadership and helper roles with the younger children, and otherwise assists Sonrise Youth Leaders with outreach activities, fellowship gatherings and ministry opportunities that involve the children of our church family, as well as participation with the adult congregation.
