About Us

Oikos Communications is the Visual Communications Division of The Little Guy LLC.

The Little Guy was originally founded in 2006 to make internet technology and website development affordable and accessible to small business, organizations, non-profits,  and individuals. Other technologuy services quickly became a part of what we offered as a part of offering our customers what they need and taking the unapproachability out of technology.

Oikos Communications was born out of our commitment to unwavering customer service.  We operate under the belief that if there is a worthwhile project with a worthwhile goal, we will find a way to make it achievable.  When one of our customers found a need for additional technology services, The Little Guy began development of a technology program to address this need.

Our services began with basic technical support for our clients' computer technology needs.  Upon seeing the current advancements in interactive video conferencing, and the potential of this blossoming media, we expanded our offerings to include helping our customers gain this capability.  Interactive video conferencing and supporting technologies is now the main focus of our Visual Communications Division.

Oikos ?

Oikos means family.  It is the people that you deal with everyday.  Oikos is also the social group and the people with whom you spend most of your time.  It speaks of familiarity and relationships, it means those who are "face-to-face" with you.

When Scotty Sweatt, President and founder of The Little Guy, LLC began considering a suitable name for the visual communications division, he wanted a name that embodied the end goal that we hoped to achieve.  In doing so, he recalled his days as a ministry student at Liberty University, and a word that he learned while studying the New Testament, Oikos.

oikos
Oikos is a Greek word that was used in the original written scriptures to express those between whom close personal relationships existed.  It was commonly referred to in ministry in the concept of "oikos evangelism", which put an emphasis on bringing those close to you to Christ.

Scotty realized that the end product of a well developed interactive visual communications program could accomplish a much broader group of that "face-to-face" group and make larger, more diverse interactions the standard as opposed to the exception. It allows people to drop in on friends, coworkers, students, educators, suppliers and anyone else, anywhere in the world, for a meeting, for a learning experience or for no good reason at all.

Upon a bit of research and consultation, the Visual Communications Division of The Little Guy LLC officially became Oikos Communications, or OIKCOM for short.

Thank you for your interest and for joining us on this exciting journey to the future of communications.

Welcome To Tomorrow. tm
